Defeat viruses within few clicks instead of long-lasting and really boring manual procedures and get the help of security experts whenever you need it.

We have been working for every PC user since 2003

Currently, our anti-malware software rescues thousands of PCs around the world every day.

Wonder how we do it?

New malware appears dozens of times each day. Our analysts explore it and replenish the signature database every hour. The Support Team is available 24/7. It helps users to scan & clean their computers from infection, in severe cases, connecting remotely. Every week we release a new and improved version of the product, and these updates are free for our customers.

A GridinSoft team is a group of professionals who enjoy working and do it enthusiastically. Our door is always open to you – take a closer look!

GridinSoft Anti-Malware is useful when you need to get rid of Malware on your PC  – Trojan Horses, Worms, Adware, Spyware…

Usually, antivirus software is intended to remove viruses, rootkits, and other infections in your system. But they are often ineffective when you are bombed with a huge amount of advertisements and pop-ups and malicious software… Antimalware Software will be effective in this field when standard anti-virus software either fails to detect them or fails to eliminate them effectively. We are good at doing this, and we are proud of our mission to let you breathe freely surfing the Internet!

The majority of Anti-Malware Scanners are well able to detect malicious software – Trojan Horses, Internet Worms, Adware/Spyware, etc. – but are not always efficient in removing them once they have been triggered.
GridinSoft Anti-Malware is designed specifically to disable/remove Malware without the user having to edit system files or the Registry manually. The program also removes the additional system modifications some Malware carries out, which some standard antivirus scanners ignore.

GridinSoft Anti-Malware scans ALL the files loaded at boot time for Adware, Spyware, Remote Access Trojans, Internet Worms, and other malware.

The Web-Site of GridinSoft Anti-Malware is https://gridinsoft.com/antimalware/. This is the place where you can get the majority of useful information about the latest news in the area of malware applications and how to remove them with the help of GridinSoft Anti-Malware using our malware removal guides (choose Blog section).

You may also purchase the program and ask for help via a customer ticket support system from this starting place.

So, here you are, staring at your home or business computer infected with a certain unwanted application, malware, or, to say shortly, by a virus.

Have you ever been in such situations?

Surely you have, to this or another extent. There are certain virus removal principles that you must adhere to for the successful restoration of your computer back to its status before the very virus attack occurred. This article is devoted to these general recommendations for our users when facing a certain type of virus. Please read it carefully and try to follow these admonitions in times of problems with your computer.

Do not panic!

Often this is exactly what the malware developers want from you. If users tend to panic, they also tend to make quick judgments. This is especially true when being infected with a fake anti-virus program. In a panic, some people (again, in a panic) make decisions in haste regarding purchasing the rogue security programs that are useless and helpless.

You need to perform certain research on the type of malware program/problem that attacked your PC and how it can be dealt with/eliminated. The World Wide Web is full of security forums, sites, online discussion platforms, blogs, and other useful information sources. If you did not find the solution or answer, you might consider posting the question on Yahoo! Answers or Microsoft Answers site.

Read the removal instructions carefully!

Many sites over the Internet offer excellent removal guidelines and tips on how to get rid of viruses. They recommend certain removal solutions, including anti-virus applications. However, a good security blog or site would offer detailed guidelines on all the necessary steps for malware elimination. It might not be enough just to run the recommended anti-virus software. So, once again, please read the instructions carefully and follow them completely.

Be selective!

Many sites nowadays recommend certain security applications, either free or subject to be paid for. We are not in the position to rate them or to speak either negatively or positively about them. Let the people rate the anti-virus programs (even though many of the contemporary security applications know nothing about the effective removal of malware). So, research this issue and do not pick up just the first security program you’ve encountered.

If you have problems using certain anti-virus software and thus cannot remove the virus, you need to immediately contact the software developer or its customer support team and tell them about your problems. Do not hurry up to uninstall the software if it failed to remove certain viruses! It might be that you did not follow the removal guidelines completely or that the virus has been recently modified and is not duly detected by anti-virus software. Do not purchase or download another software in haste, without first having contacted the developers of the one that failed to remove the virus. If you choose GridinSoft Anti-Malware as your security software, the best way to contact us is via ticket customer support service available here – https://support.gridinsoft.com/antimalware/#ticket-system

Be patient!

It takes some time to research your problem thoroughly to give the proper and constructive answer (recommendation). So, it might take a little bit longer than you expect to resolve the issue of your concern.

Be polite!

While communicating with the customer support team, you are dealing with people and not with robots. We are people like you, and sometimes we have the same problems you have. We strive to satisfy our customers the best we can and do not ignore your requests. We cherish our customers and try to please them, even though sometimes the issue cannot be resolved as quickly as we want.

Trust us!

We undertake to fulfill the responsibilities before our clients, and in the case of problems, we will prioritize the benefit of our users and not ourselves.

We cherish our customers, even though sometimes things do not go as smoothly as they want. We will do the best to assist you in removing malware from your computer and hope to build strong and friendly relations with you in the future. Remember that by purchasing GridinSoft Anti-Malware, you receive lifetime customer support for all your PC security needs. We hope this portion of information has been helpful to you.

Yours faithfully,

GridinSoft Team

Buying GridinSoft Anti-Malware is carried out through PayPro Global Inc. or 2Checkout (former Avangate), the payment processing companies. If you intend to buy GridinSoft Anti-Malware, the best way to do it is via the site. The most typical form of payment is via credit/debit card. For this type of payment, you need to indicate your type of credit/debit card (Visa, American Express, Mastercard, Discover, JSB) and other important credit/debit card details necessary for the payment effected. Other payment types are also available (depending on the country where the purchase is made). They include Purchase Order, Webmoney, Phone Order, Fax Order, Check/Cash, Wire Transfer, and PayPal.
Once the payment is effected via PayPro Global Inc. or 2Checkout (former Avangate), the payment processing companies, you will receive the purchase confirmation from one of them about the payment effected, as well as your activation code/license/serial key for your version of GridinSoft Anti-Malware. Please be aware that the activation code/license/serial key are the same things.
If you have problems finding or receiving the activation code, please immediately contact the payment processing company via the e-mail address support@payproglobal.com or support@2checkout.com and GridinSoft Anti-Malware Customer Support Team by creating the ticket via https://support.gridinsoft.com/antimalware/#ticket-system. The activation code will be sent to you as quickly as possible. However, you might need to check your SPAM folder; it might be that the message was mistakenly forwarded into this folder.
If you affected the payment several times by mistake (without the actual intention to do so), please be advised that you will be refunded for the mistakenly affected payments.
If you encounter any difficulty with purchasing a license (because of browser infections, network issues, etc.), please use the QR Code to open the order page with your mobile device:
If you do not have a license yet, follow this link.
If you already purchased a license, you should have received two emails from 2Checkout or PayPro Global (depending on current settings): the first one with the details of your payment, and the second one contains all information on your License (product name, order date and number, name of the license’s holder, email address the license is registered on, download link and the License Key itself). If you cannot find this email – please check your spam folder. It could get there by mistake.
You can also find all the information on your License in the Member Area.

Before activation, the key doesn’t have any personal information attached to it, so if you have ordered multiple licenses, it does not matter which license you activate on each PC. Once the license was activated, the Unical Identifier of Device (UID) is generating and linking to the PC. The number of activated PC should not be over the License restrictions.

You must add the license to the program to activate your copy of Gridinsoft Anti-Malware:

  1. Choose an Info tab in the menu.
  2. Click on the “If you already have a license” link at the bottom.
  3. Enter the License Key  (the letter/number combination) in the following format: XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX and click OK. We recommend you copy/paste the key to avoiding a mistake.
  4. You will be notified with the ACTIVATION COMPLETE window, where we inform you about our remote help service. Please, select the checkbox I have read and understood how important it is to contact the support team and then click OK.
  5. Your copy of Gridinsoft Anti-Malware turned to licensed. Now you can log in to your Member Area to change your account information.
In order to use our software properly, you need to know several things about how the program works. There is some information you need to know about GridinSoft Anti-Malware – from the performance of the program updates to actual malware removal.
A regular update of the system is the basic premise for obtaining the maximum security level provided by GridinSoft Anti-Malware. The Update module ensures that the program is always up to date. This is done in two ways: updating the virus signature database and updating the application’s version. The information about the current update status can be found by clicking the Update tab. The information window contains some details, such as the date and time of the last successful update.
Once GridinSoft Anti-Malware is successfully launched, the program would automatically arrange its update (provided that you have Internet access available for your PC). This is the screenshot of the program status you see when it starts updating signatures automatically:
Once the update process is accomplished, you need to click the “OK” button. Afterward, the scanning process would begin.
However, you may click the “Update” tab at any time, where you will be able to find information about the current database information. If you want to update the software manually, please, select the “Run Update” button and click it. The update process will begin.
The settings of Update you can find in the Settings tab -> Update section:
Choose the “on startup” option if you want the databases to be updated when the program is started;
Choose the “every hour” option if you want the databases to be updated every hour (this is the recommended choice);
Choose the “every day” option if you want the databases to be updated once a day;
Choose the “before every scan” option if you want the databases updated before each starting scan.
Several types are available. The Quick scan quickly scans the system with no need for further configuration of the scan parameters. It checks the most critical parts of your system. The Full scan checks all of your computer and hard disks for the availability of threats. By selecting the Standart scan button, you may scan all the standard threats locations on your PC. Recommended. The Custom scan allows the user to select any of the particular folders – please, use it to scan your external hard drives and removable disks plugged into your computer (flash drives, memory sticks). It’s possible to choose different options for scanning on a Custom scan. For example, you can additionally scan ActiveX components, services, extensions, and startups for the presence of other available infections.
Once the update process has been completed, the scan would begin automatically. You would see the following picture while the scan takes place:
The program would also report you of various types of malware and infections detected on your computer during the scan. After the scan is completed, the program would present the report with the suggestion to remove detected items. However, you may repeat the scan at any time by pressing the “Scan” tab. By the way, you can terminate the scan at any time by clicking on the Pause button or stop it by selecting the Stop button. After answering “Yes” at the confirmation message, the scan will be canceled. After the scan is completed, GridinSoft Anti-Malware will display the list of threats (in the case of detection) that could be fixed.
Once the scan has been completed successfully, please, have a look at detected items to decide if they all have to be swiped off or not. If yes – the easiest way to get rid of them is to press the Clean Now button.
As a result, all detected threats are listed, ordered by severity and impact on your computer.
The cleaning process means that all detected items will be quarantined. Therefore they will stay at your PC but defused it.
If you’ll change your mind and decide to use one of the quarantined files – you may easily restore them to their original place by visiting the Quarantine list at the Tools tab.

Read more about this in the Managing Quarantine List chapter

If you are computer savvy enough, you can switch to Advanced mode and apply an individual action to each detected item. Here are more variants of actions to apply:
  • Choose Ignore Once for the items, which you want to ignore in the current scan results. These items will be ignored only this time.
  • Choose Ignore Always for the items, which you think are clean and should not be detected. Therefore they will be added to the Ignore List.
  • Choose Move to Quarantine for the items you want to remove. You’ll be able to restore accidentally deleted files. This is a recommended action as it is the safest.
  • Choose Delete to remove selected items permanently. We do not recommend applying this action if you are not an advanced PC user.

You can apply the same action to all files by selecting it in the “Apply to all” area at the table header.

However, you may apply different actions one by one to all the items you need.

Please remember: All actions applied in the Advanced Mode will be saved when you are switching back to a usual mode. That’s why we recommend to use this option carefully!

Below is how the virus removal process looks like. Click Close in the congratulation window once the items have been removed.

GridinSoft Anti-Malware will arrange the report about the successful completion of the removal process. Click the OK button on a window with removal results to return to the main window.

However, in some cases, the system might ask you to reset browser settings or to reboot your computer and rerun the scan. If this is the case, please, act accordingly.

You may also skip the current scan results by choosing Leave without a cleaning link and scan your PC again later.

Some malware programs amend your browser settings, causing redirect problems and other related issues. Additionally, the main browser Home, Start and Search Page preferences may be amended to redirect users to other unwanted web addresses. In order to reset these settings back to the normal mode, please click the “Tools” menu and then select the “Reset Browser Settings” option.
Each computer has a special HOSTs file aimed to store the web addresses. In certain cases, this file can be used to speed up access to the web pages you tend to visit more often. However, sometimes this file is being abused by malware. If this is the case, you might need to try the option of resetting the HOSTs file by clicking the “Tools” menu, selecting “Reset browser settings” and ticking “HOSTS file“.
The Windows HOSTS file is a text file that stores website addresses. The file can be used to speed up access to websites you often visit – by equating the website name (e.g., microsoft.com) with its DNS address, the web browser can find the website more quickly, as it does not have to query a DNS Name Server.
Some Malware programs add entries to this file to either deny access to websites (usually security-related or antivirus company websites) or to re-direct access to websites of their preference.
There should be only one line in the “hosts”: localhost in Windows XP and localhost ::1 in other Windows versions. If there are more, then remove them and save changes. Read more about Windows Hosts file here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034
There are three types of log files in the program; each collects information about specific parts of the program’s work.
  1. Application Log gathers data about actions of the program, fixates information about possible problems when the program performs starting, scanning, or other tasks.
  2. Protection Log is a detailed log about the results of the work of three real-time protection systems. If you have any suspicion of conflict in operating with other programs, while Internet Security and On-Run Protection are turned on, we see it in Protection Log.
  3. Scan Log contains a detailed scan results report: the scan time, its type, which objects were scanned, and what threats were detected.
Log files are like images of the startup, scan, and protection processes of your computer. We may ask you to send us one or several log files for our analysis in some cases. This is especially required when analyzing the refund requests, so please make sure to send us such information via ticket support system https://support.gridinsoft.com/antimalware/#ticket-system (by creating a new ticket) or directly from the program just selecting the needed log file(s) and pressing “Send log(s)” the ticket will be automatically created.
To generate a needed log file, please, go to the “Tools” tab and select the “Scan logs“, “Protection logs” or “Application logs” option, then double click on particular information to save or send the appeared information. Please, save it to some folder on your computer and/or send it to us for our analysis in the order described above. If you send us your log(s) directly from the program – it is essential for you to add a description of your issue/question to us. We will respond to your request faster if we have as much information as possible.
This option gives us a chance to analyze your computer’s actual virus vulnerability status, check the persistence of any particular malware program on your computer, and make certain modifications to our anti-virus database to help you get rid of particular viruses (even the latest ones). We might ask you to generate this special file about your system’s security status for our analysis. Please go to the “Tools” menu and select “Collect System Info” to generate it. When the report is generated, please, save it to a certain folder on your computer (click “Save to file…” button) and send it to us for our analysis via customer ticket support system https://support.gridinsoft.com/antimalware/#ticket-system (by creating a new ticket). Please do not create multiple tickets but rather keep up with the update of the issue in one ticket you already created.
The Quarantine list stores those threats placed there after applying the “Move to quarantine” action after scanning. The “Move to quarantine” action is equal to the “Delete” action, but it has the ability to restore items from Quarantine.
A user may restore a certain file if he/she considers it a false positive (at his/her own risk). Please, report the false positive to us via the customer ticket support system https://support.gridinsoft.com/antimalware/#ticket-system  (by creating a new ticket).
To view/open the quarantine list, please, go to the “Tools” tab and select the “Quarantine list” option. You may now immediately Remove the specific item from your Quarantine list or Restore it despite general settings.
Ignore List includes those files and sites that the user does not want to be detected or blocked.
In fact, there are two Ignore Lists, one for files, folders, and registry objects (System tab), the second for sites and domains (Internet tab).

Ignore List for files, folders, registry objects

– shows the items to which actions such as “Ignore once” or “Ignore always” have been applied after the scan and with enabled On-Run Protection.

Items added to the Ignore List, in this case, can be seen on the “System” tab.
To add a file/folder/registry item to the Ignore List directly from the program that will not be detected during the scan, please go to the Tools tab and select the Ignore List. Click on the “System” tab, press “Add“.

The user can delete a specific file/folder/registry item if he thinks that it was added to the Ignore List by mistake.

To open/edit the Ignore List, click the Tools tab and select Ignore List -> System tab. Mark the files added to the list by mistake, press “Clear“.

Ignore List for URLs, domains

– contains items to which actions such as “Visit this site anyway” or “Add this site to Ignore List” were applied while surfing the Internet with the Internet Security option enabled.

Items added to the Ignore List while working on the Internet can be seen on the “Internet” tab.
To add URL/domain to the Ignore List directly from the program that will not be blocked while working on the Internet, please go to the Tools tab and select Ignore List. Click the “Internet” tab, press “Add…“.

By making an exception on the Internet tab, you have the option to add both a specific URL and a whole domain. You can also mark the site/domain temporarily added (they are marked as * in the list), which means that after the current session of the program, it will be removed from the Ignore List.

A user can delete a specific site/domain if he thinks it’s added to Ignore List by mistake.

To open/edit the Ignore List, click the Tools tab and select Ignore List -> Internet tab. Mark the URLs added to the list by mistake, press “Clear“.

Please click the “Tools” tab and select “Settings” to choose the program settings of your preference. The special window will appear where you will choose your own settings to make use of GridinSoft Anti-Malware personalized by you.
Settings include an indication of general options, update options, language choosing, scheduled scan options, and specification of the scan parameters (this option is mostly for experienced PC users).

The Protect Tab shows the general level of protection available and activated on your computer. The program’s protection is represented by three powerful proactive functions from GridinSoft: Internet Security, On-Run Protection, USB Protection.

Also, on this tab, you can view:
  • the present level of protection of your computer, depending on the number of protection elements activated;
  • the activity time of at least one security element;
  • the current Report Log with the specification of what object and by which protection element was detected and what action was applied to it;
  • the number of scanned and detected objects, total and separate for each element.

You can also undo each action by double-clicking on it and applying what you think is more appropriate.

This feature allows you to get extra protection against possible threat aggression. When you occasionally launch a certain executable file that is infected and thus identified by GridinSoft Anti-Malware as a virus, the program would immediately notify you of it and will not let you launch it until you authorize the system to permit such actions. By default, this option is already activated once you install the software.

You can see this feature in the form of the “Protect” tab. Once you launch GridinSoft Anti-Malware, this feature will be activated immediately (permanently monitoring your PC activity and protecting you from possible launching of malware applications).

You can apply any action you consider is right in every specific situation. There are Ignore Once, Delete, Move to quarantine, and Ignore Always options.
When a certain malware process is just about to be launched, you will get the following notification:
If you choose the Block always option, the found threat will bу quarantined, and if you choose “Ignore always” the found object will be added to ignore list.

GridinSoft Internet Security is an internet filtering technology that checks each web page you visit in real-time and will allow or block a webpage based on the GridinSoft Threat List and your preferences.

According to our internet security research, internet filtering is increasingly important as most infections and threats appear on your PC while you are visiting harmful sites without knowing it. Our real-time filtering technology gives you visibility and control over your online activity with easy to use controls.

Since the internet is full of mature and inappropriate content, a reliable and advanced internet filter is important to protect yourself and your family from unintended exposure.

To restart Google Chrome without losing your open tabs just type chrome://restart into the address bar and press Enter.

To restart Mozilla Firefox without losing your open tabs press Shift+F2 and then type restart into the console window before pressing Enter.

To restart Internet Explorer without losing your open tabs, close the application and relaunch it, then select Tools -> Reopen previous browsing session. Unfortunately, this will restore the tabs on your last Internet Explorer window, but it won’t reopen multiple windows if you had them open.

GridinSoft Internet Security relies on our technology to review the content of any website connected with malware or adware activity, or virus-making.

Why is that important? The internet changes constantly; websites are updated daily, and thousands of new web pages are added worldwide. Our Analyst Team works hard to classify and research each threat they found, and we understand the necessity of having an internet filter that can keep up with these constant changes for our customers. Our filtering technology is based on our own researches, and we are proud of our possibility to update the Threat List hourly! We detect the threat and the way it appeared and block it at the same moment to prevent our customers from infecting as soon as possible.

GridinSoft Internet Security allows the good content you want to access while keeping out harmful and inappropriate pages so that you can use the internet without fear of accidental exposure to undesirable material or dangerous software.

You can switch Internet Security On to view, block, or alert any harmful website listed in our ThreatList: list of possible threats here. These categories are the same for Windows and Android devices.

With our filtering technology, GridinSoft Internet Security will not cause your device or computer to run slowly when filtering internet content.

Using Internet Security, you have to know that any restrictions could be changed if you guess the site is blocked by mistake or you definitely know you want to visit it – in this case, they could be changed to suit each user’s unique needs.

Visit this site anyway” action.

Add this site to Ignore List permanently” action.

USB disks are one of the most popular ways for viruses or similar threats to appear on your PC.

It is very important to secure this way, and the only solution is prevention. It is absolutely impossible to find out where the concrete rootkit, backdoor, or something else was brought into your system from. Still, it’s definitely much easier to stop it at the moment of copying (installing, running, or duplicating – depending on the type of the threat and thief’s ingenuity) – that’s why keeping USB protection ON allows you to stay on guard of your security each time when you are connecting any disks, cards or other storage devices to your USB port…

GridinSoft USB Protection keeps watching on the processes and processor’s activity when a USB device is connected. Why is that important? Any device connected to your PC could be potentially untrustful as you couldn’t know where this device was connected before and who can use it for the aims of an informational attack. We analyze the processes that have been running at the moment of disk connection and their behavior, so we can warn the user when suspicious activity is detected.

Our heuristic behavior file analyzer technology is based on our own researches, and we are proud of our ability to update the Threat List hourly! We detect the threat and the way it appeared and block it at the same moment to prevent our customers from infecting as soon as possible.

When a new USB-device is connected to your PC, a pop-up window of Removable device protection will appear with a suggestion to scan the connected device:

If you choose Skip – nothing will happen, and if you choose Scan – the program will start to scan the device.

GridinSoft USB Protection checks the processes and processor’s activity to let you

keeping out harmful and inappropriate software so you can use the connected discs without fear of infecting your system with undesirable or dangerous software.

You can keep USB Protection ON to block the most common way of the threat’s appearance on your PC. GridinSoft USB Protection will not cause your computer to work slowly while checking connected disks. It just needs a few additional seconds before your drive will be approved. Don’t forget: the protection engine monitors processes and processor’s activity – that is why GridinSoft USB Protection will check files in memory and some files in the Windows directory to ensure they are still unchanged and work properly.
